so i cant stop watching the national geographic channel. they just did a thing on Yosemite National Park and my mind is kindof blown. ohhhhhonedaylara.
this past weekend was Easter, and i drove home to spend a couple days with the family. Had a good time, we went to my aunts on sunday, and dad and i got to take the canoe out on the lake (my aunt lives on lake johnson). it was good to see her, she is always on trips so that was nice. it was also really great to see my grandparents. i dont know about you guys but i find my grandparents so interesting. i never knew my grandfather used to box in the navy, just interesting stuff like that. not to say that there arnt huge grandparents/parents problems within my family, but i guess i wish so much i could have known these people when they were young. i have a feeling they would have been pretty awesome.

why do revelations like this also have to be sad? my mom's dad has alzheimers, and he is worsening quickly, so that was hard. it doesnt seem hard for him, he has no idea and hes more happy and joking than ever, but i can tell its hard on everyone to not see him as the always stern man of the house. it is so insane how people's minds just slip. i remember when i was young and forced to visit my great-grandmother in the nursing home, (dad's gmom. nursinghomes still and will always smell weird) and i distinctly remember at one point how she just reverted to speaking in only italian. my dad said she couldnt have spoken it since she was a child. anyway, my grandfather is starting to do that more and more. its fascinating and scary. But it was really nice to spend time with these people that i dont always see, and canoeing for the afternoon was a lot of fun too.
also, i dont know how many people ive told but if you dont know, ive been trying really since i got back, to obtain dual citizenship in italy. apparently i qualify as long as my moms dad is alive, but its been really difficult and italy does not want any damn americans trying to be italian. apparently its really hard and these ppl are giving me the run-around, buttt my aunt has been trying for years and says its just going to take us going to the italian embassy in nyc and staying until it is done. so we're trying to book something soon! pretty exciting. most people know im into politics and ive kindof been on the fence about this idea, really just theoretically, but i think its an opportunity i cant miss. and then i can buy land there if i ever so please, or could at least go back for an indefinite amount of time without the massive hassle of obtaining a visa. who knows. im really thrilled by the idea. i will keep you posted.

on a lighter note: mamma is workin hard(er) for the money. heyy, second job. lets go be a makeup artist again and be paid for it. now freelancing with MAC most weekends to come. office lady and makeup lady? forrrrsure. im kindof excited for a creative outlet agian. or at least until i realize how much working at the god forsaken mall sucks again. eh, wonderful.
okay i feel like i need to give a shout out to MY number one lady who posted a little something about me on her blog not too long ago. i guess i just want to say that if there has been one person who has beared witness (possibly against her will, given the fact that we sleep 12 ft from each other) to the hardships i have been dealing with these past few months, it would be this girl. there has got to be a reason i am living with the most care free ,happy go lucky, outgoing person i know. and not only has she put up with my crying and kicking and screaming about the things that have happened or are happening in my life, she continually sits with me through it, and is ALWAYS the first to point out the positive strides i have been making. she is my number one fan. without question. without judgement. she is always on the sidelines jumping and cheering and sometimes running over and slapping me to make me smile. i guess i just want to say thank you, because i know it hasnt been particularly upliftingly easy being my roomie or friend or numberonelady. but i love ya for it. that, i most certainly do.

a couple of extra goodies: i can not get the weakerthans song "left and leaving" out of my head. not the most upbeat song, but i love this song and the lyrics and i was going be lame and post them here, but you should just go listen to the song or look em up, because they feel very fitting this week.
and one last goodie for you: updated flickr, you're welcome :)
